How to Mix Prints Like a Pro: The Perfect Outfit Combination for Spring

If it’s one thing that I love, it’s a good floral. I really noticed this after cleaning out my closet the other weekend while getting ready for the move to LA. Patterns, in general, are a closet staple for me since they elevate any look.

Besides a good floral, this girl loves her stripes – so naturally, I love mixing the two… especially for spring.

How to Mix Prints like a Pro

    1. Before going crazy with mixing too much, a good rule of thumb is to measure out the size of the print so that they even out. For example, mixing a bold floral with a bold stripe will most likely clash. What I like to do is take a bold floral with a thin stripe and vice versa.
    2. The same thing goes for color. I like to find colors that compliment each other nicely, but I wouldn’t recommend necessarily mixing an all-red polka dot with an all-red stripe unless you really block them out.
    3. On that note, a really easy way to mix prints is to find prints that share a color. For example, I have red stripes on my top, as well as a red shade in my floral. Different shades are totally fine, in fact, I encourage them!
    4. Pro tip: I love treating stipes as a neutral in my outfit when mixing prints. This really helps differentiate the bold print that you want to accentuate.
